Summary of Daily Weather
Date Being Summarized: 30 April 1995

FOCUS OF ACTIVITY CENTERED ALONG AND NORTH OF SFC FRONTAL BOUNDARY ACROSS
NORTHERN TEXAS...WITH ADDITIONAL SEVERE REPORTS WELL NORTH OF THE
BOUNDARY OVER EAST CENTRAL OKLAHOMA. MAIN UPPER LEVEL JET MOVED FROM THE
GREAT BASIN/SOUTHERN ROCKIES AT 12Z TO THE TEXAS PANHANDLE AND WESTERN
OKLAHOMA BY 01/00Z RESULTING IN ENHANCED LOW LEVEL SOUTHERLY FLOW OF WARM
AND MOIST AIR OVER THE BOUNDARY. SEVERAL INCIDENCES OF LARGE HAIL WERE
NOTED NEAR THE RED RIVER AND NORTHEAST TEXAS (UP TO BASEBALL SIZE IN A COUPLE
INSTANCES) SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING. NO TORNADOES WERE REPORTED IN
THE VORTEX OPS AREA.

LATE AFTERNOON SURFACE DATA SHOWED VERY STRONG LOW LVL CONVERGENCE BACK TO
THE WEST ACROSS THE TEXAS PANHANDLE ASSOCIATED WITH A SURFACE LOW ALONG
THE NEW MEXICO BORDER. HAD THE LOW LEVEL MOISTURE BEEN MORE FAVORABLE SOME
SIGNIFICANT SUPERCELLS PROBABLY WOULD HAVE DEVELOPED IN THE AREA FROM AMA
TO LBB GIVEN THE MAIN UPPER LEVEL JET IN THE AREA. VORTEX WAS IN THE
PANHANDLE AND OBSERVED HIGH CLOUD BASES WHICH WERE NEVER ABLE TO GET
ORGANIZED.
