Summary of Daily Weather
Date Being Summarized: 20 MAY 1995

The basically zonal flow pattern continued, with embedded short wave systems,
such that the flow over the southern plains was west-northwesterly. A cold
front basically stalled out over KS with upslope flow into CO and moderate dew-
points pooled in vicinity of the front. Especially interesting was a pre-front-
al boundary, behind which easterly flow prevailed with dewpoints approaching the
mid 50s (F). Moderate to high lapse rates continued over the southern Rockies,
with some weak ripples in the flow bringing those high lapse rates over the
southern high plains. Several strong convective storms developed in mid-after-
noon in southeastern CO and a couple of isolated storms developed late in the
day in the TX panhandle ... no tornadoes were reported but the CO and TX pan-
handle storms produced some marginal hail reports in the rough SELS log. Mois-
ture at low levels was increasing only slowly, with the Gulf of Mexico still
closed by the front that had moved well out into the Gulf previously.
